In this rainy sesaon, avoid eating vegetables grown in fresh rainwater or eat as little of them as you can. Use sour lemon freely. Below are few recipies with lemon.

Lemon Sevaiya

Ingredients                               Amount

Wheat Vermiceli                        1 cup

Turmeric powder                       1/2 tsp

Rock Salt                                   1 tsp

Oil                                            1 spoon

Mustard seeds                           1/4 tsp

Udad dal                                   1 tbsp

Green chilies in big pieces          1 whole

Curry leaves                              5-6 leaves

Asafoetida                                1 pinch

Lemon                                      1 – 2  whole

Water                                       2 cups

In a pan add oil, mustard seeds.

After it splutters, add udad dal (black gram) and roast it till it turns reddish brown
in color.

Add green chilies, curry leaves,  asafoetida, turmeric powder and wheat vermiceli. Cook it for 1 minute.

Add hot water, rock salt and cook it for 10-15 minutes.

Turn off the gas, add lemon juice and serve.


Suran chat

Ingredients                               Amount

Yam                                         250 gms

Sweet potatoes                          100gms

Colocasia roots(Arabi)                 100 gms

Black pepper                             1 tbsp

Rock salt                                   1.2 tsp or as per taste

Black salt                                  1 tbsp

Lemon                                      1 1/2whole

Cow Ghee                                 1 tbsp

Cumin seeds                             1 tsp

Peel Yam, sweet potatoes, colocasia roots (Arabi) and chop them in cubes.

Steam them with rocksalt and black salt for 15 minutes.

In a pan add cow ghee heat it up and add cumin seeds, black pepper powder and steamed roots, stir it and turn off the gas.

Add lemon juice and serve the chat.

This is a tasty and healthy option of chat. In this month green leafy and fresh vegetables are not available, so use of yam is good in rainy months.



Ingredients                         Amount

Subja seeds                         2 tbsp

Rock sugar                          1 1/2 tbsp

Lemon juice                         1 tbsp

Ginger juice (optional)      1/2 tbsp

Water                                 1 glass

Sock subja seeds in water for 1/2 hour drain the water.

In 1 glass water add lemon juice, rock sugar and ginger juice stir well.

Add subja seeds and serve it.
